70 degrees and Sunny

Crazy how such a beautiful day can make everything feel better. Meeting Will for lunch and then taking Mackenzie to play disc golf. Anything to keep me busy and take my mind off the fact that my little Sadie is in Michigan with her dad this week.

Aaaargh.

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with my 9 year old daughter. She has a genetic disorder, VCFS, that has 180 symptoms that may or may not present themselves. My fears of her developing mentally are growing. She has taken to lying as of late. She often lies to avoid consequences of getting in trouble, for instance, taking toys away from her 3 year old sister. Fine, I get it. But now, she's lying about miniscule things that she wouldn't even be in trouble for. She is required by the courts, not me, to call her dad every day.

For the last 3 days, she told me she called and left a message. She instead turned her phone off and went about her business. When I asked her why she lied, she had no reason. I am very worried about this behavior. I am considering finding her a therapist. Not really sure what route to take on consequences here. I thought about taking away TV for a week, and giving that priviledge back if she goes a week with out lying. Then if she makes it another week without lying schedule a horseback riding lesson. Any suggestions? Any parents of children with VCFS that are also dealing with this? Is this normal 9 year old behavior? Good child therapist in Texas? Any advice?
